To participate in the Community Playtests or take to the battlefield in Project ETHOS when it is fully deployed, you will need a 2K Account with a link to your platform account.
Project ETHOS Steam Linking Guide
Ready to link your Steam account to your 2K Account for the playtest?
- Log in to your 2K Account at https://portal.2k.com/
- Visit the "Connections" tab
- Click "CONNECT" below the Steam icon
- If you see a Steam Display Name and a "DISCONNECT" button, you're already linked!
- A pop-up window will show you your Steam login options - this is where you're going to log in to Steam and make the connection between these two accounts
Is the wrong Steam account linked, or would you like to disconnect your Steam account from your 2K Account?
Important Note: When you unlink your Steam account from your 2K Account, you'll be able to link your current Steam account to a different 2K Account but your game progress, memberships, subscriptions, in-game purchases, and in-game player profiles MAY NOT transfer over. Proceed with caution!
- If you unlink this Steam account, you may be unable to log in to Project ETHOS through Steam until the account is re-linked
- You may lose progress on leveling, item unlocks, entitlements like in-game rewards, and other content until the account is re-linked to the same 2K Account
With all those cautions in place, if you're still ready to go forward with unlinking, these are the steps you will follow:
- Log in to your 2K Account at https://portal.2k.com/
- Visit the "Connections" tab
- Click "DISCONNECT" below the Steam icon
- Review the Unlink Confirmation and check the "Agree" box at the bottom
- The "Unlink" button will be grayed out until you check this box
- If you're having second thoughts, the "Cancel" button is right there for you to escape this process
- Click the "Unlink" button once it's active and you're done!

Q: Do I have to link my platform to my 2K Account?
A: Yes, in order to access Project ETHOS from any platform, that platform account must be linked to a 2K Account. For the first Community Playtest weekend, the game will only be available to a linked Steam account.
Q: Can I link Project ETHOS to an underage/child 2K Account?
A: No, a Child Account in the 2K system, which is any account under the age set by your country and is able to access our games with the permission of the verified parent account, cannot access Project ETHOS.
Q: What happens if I unlink my platform account from my 2K Account?
